Tom “Wakes” Waelchli Memorial Baseball Scholarship

This scholarship is in memory of Tom “Wakes” Waelchli, who passed away suddenly on April 20, 2020. After receiving his master’s degree from Wayne State University, Tom went on to live his life immersed in his number one passion: Baseball. Wakes coached baseball for Macomb’s athletics program since 1985. His love for the game took him around the world to coach, play and mentor. Family and friends established this scholarship in memory of Coach Wakes, to continue his legacy and passion for Macomb’s baseball program through scholarships for their student athletes.

• half-time enrollment (6 credit hours or more) each semester of award
• minimum GPA 2.0 each semester of award
• current athlete on the Macomb Monarchs baseball team at Macomb Community College
• letter of recommendation from coach
• 250-word essay about your future career and athletic goals including those planned for attaining at Macomb Community College
• award is for tuition, fees, and books
