Neal Shine Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Neal Shine, Detroit Free Press reporter, editor and publisher, to provide scholarship assistance to students taking a Composition, Communications, English or Journalism class at Macomb Community College. It is directed to students who appreciate the written word for its advancement of communicating ideas and influencing others in a positive way.

• full-time enrollment (12 credit hours or more) each semester of award
• minimum GPA 3.0 each semester of award
• award is for tuition, fees and books
• Macomb County resident
• essay addressing the topic “Why We Write”; scholarship will be granted to the students submitting the best essay
