Frank Johnson Utility Diversity Endowed Scholarship

This named scholarship honors Frank Johnson on the occasion of his retirement, for his dedication and 40 years of service and leadership to Consumers Energy. This endowment is established by Consumers Energy Minority Advisory Panel (MAP) to provide financial assistance to Macomb Community College students seeking education and training in areas that directly impact the talent pipeline for energy.

  • must be a resident of Wayne, Oakland, or Macomb County
  • must be a graduate of public high school
  • open to incoming freshman or currently enrolled students in good standing.
  • cumulative GPA of 2.4 to 3.0
  • must be in enrolled in curriculum that supports careers in the skilled trades areas of Construction, HVAC, Utility, or Appliance Repair
  • priority given to students who attended, participated and/or graduated from a trade/vocational high school program
  • award is for tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses
  • award is not renewable
  • applicant must submit an essay (300 words or less) that answers one of the following:
    o What are your career aspirations?
    o How do you demonstrate financial need?
