Carol McLaughlin Career Scholarship
Established for students pursuing a career after completion of a two-year program. It was established by Carol McLaughlin, a Macomb Community College alum, who earned an Associate Degree and then began a career in Financial Management at Shelby Township. Mrs. McLaughlin is a committed volunteer for the Shelby Township Beautification Committee and an advocate for beautification and environmental projects.
- enrolled in an Engineering and Advanced Technology, Nursing, Veterinary Technician or other two-year program that enables the student to begin a career after completion. Particularly in-demand areas including welding, machining, design, robotics, and mechatronics
- half-time enrollment (6 credit hours or more) each semester of award
- minimum GPA 2.5 each semester of award
- demonstrate financial need
- applicant must provide a 250-word essay on their goals, career path, and service to the community. Special consideration will be given to applicants who have had involvement in beautification or environmental projects
- a letter of recommendation from a teacher, mentor, or supervisor must be included
- recipients are asked to write a thank-you letter to the donor
- award is for tuition, fees, and books
