John S. Piet III & Christine Piet Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship

John S. Piet III was an artist and a faculty member at Macomb Community College from 1976-2011. This endowed scholarship fund was established in 2018 in memory of John S. Piet III by his wife, Christine Piet, to provide financial assistance to Macomb Community College students who apply to the Macomb Study Abroad Fund, to assist them with travel and tuition expenses as participants in international study abroad opportunities

  • student must meet the requirements for the Macomb Student Study Abroad Fund and complete the application
  • student must be traveling to a Spanish-speaking country including, but not limited to, Spain and Mexico. Travel must be connected to an academic program or a Macomb study abroad program
  • successfully completed two semesters or 15 credit hours at Macomb Community College with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
  • part-time or full-time enrollment
  • student may be interviewed by the selection committee prior to awarding
  • student may be asked by the selection committee to present or share their travel experiences with the college community
  • must include an unofficial student transcript
  • all students who meet the minimum scholarship requirements for The John S. Piet III & Christine Piet Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship and apply for the Macomb Student Study Abroad Fund will receive awards based on available funds. However, award amounts may vary based on the following criteria:
    * whether the student has previously participated in a Study Abroad program at Macomb Community College
    * student’s merit, including, but not limited to faculty recommendations, GPA, performance during the interview, etc.
  • Applications are due by Feb. 28 each year.
