Larry Fields Award in Respiratory Therapy

This award is established by the family of Marianne Bloomfield Wicka in gratitude to Larry Fields, an inspiring teacher in the Respiratory Therapy Program at Macomb Community College. Marianne was a non-traditional student who graduated with high honors from the Respiratory Therapy Program in 1974. She attributed much of her academic achievement to Mr. Field, who actively encouraged her to submit a paper to the Mead Johnson Foundation, for which she won the grand prize. After graduation, Marianne went on to a successful 24-year career as a respiratory therapist at Bi-County Hospital until retirement at age 70. Mr. Fields was the third Program Coordinator for the Respiratory Therapy Program at Macomb Community College. He began his career in 1970 and retired in 2010. He was an outstanding instructor and was well respected by many.
