John S. Piet III & Christine Piet Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship

John S. Piet III was an artist and a faculty member at Macomb Community College from 1976-2011. This endowed scholarship fund was established in 2018 in memory of John S. Piet III by his wife, Christine Piet, to provide financial assistance to Macomb Community College students and faculty who apply to the Macomb Study Abroad Fund, to assist them with travel and tuition expenses as participants in international study abroad opportunities

• Applicant must meet the requirements for the Macomb Student Study Abroad Fund and complete the application
• Travel must be connected to an academic program or a Macomb study abroad program, preference given to travel to Spanish-speaking countries including but not limited to Spain and Mexico
• At the time of application, all student applicants must have successfully completed two semesters or 15 credit hours at Macomb Community College with a minimum 2.0 GPA
• Applicant must be at least 18 years of age
• Student applicants can be part-time or full-time at Macomb Community College
• Applicants may be interviewed by the selection committee prior to awarding
• Applicant may be asked by the selection committee to present or share their travel experiences with the college community
• Student must include an unofficial student transcript with their application
• All applicants who meet the minimum scholarship requirements for The John S. Piet III & Christine Piet Study Abroad Endowed Scholarship and apply for the Macomb Student Study Abroad Program will receive awards based on available funds. However, award amounts will vary based on the following criteria:
* If the trip the applicant is applying for is their first experience with a Study Abroad program at Macomb Community College
* Merit, including, but not limited to faculty recommendations, the student’s GPA, performance during the interview, etc.

• Applications are due by Feb. 28 each year.
